As every year, St Mary’s church and the Wivenhoe branch of the Royal British Legion have worked together on the arrangements for Remembrance Sunday.
For social distancing reasons, this year these had to be substantially adjusted.
It would not be possible to have a church full of people at the Remembrance Service followed by a community gathering around the War Memorial for the Act of Remembrance. Therefore Laurence Knox of the RBL adapted the usual program so that both elements could be filmed and streamed from the church on Remembrance Sunday, giving the Wivenhoe community an opportunity to share in the event as it was happening.
That plan had to be changed when a second lockdown looked likely, and on 1 November we recorded a film which will now be premiered at 2.30 pm on 8 November on the Facebook pages of both St Mary’s church and the Royal British Legion Wivenhoe branch.
We are immensely grateful to Adam Terry and friend, whose freely given time and professional expertise produced a film that will do justice to the occasion.
