The story so far!
We began our new youth club called The Way – Wivenhoe Affable Youth, in May and it has been a great success with an average of 12 attending each session.
One week we reached 19!
With a clear pattern evolving of meeting up in an introductory circle followed by a group integration game, before doing the main event activity.
This is followed by visits to our tuck shop and free time to socialise and do their own thing.
Art, traditional board games, and table sports are always available.
Finally, we come together at the end for the Tuesday Take Away – Self affirming messages are selected and discussed.
Lately we have built strong tall towers out of newspaper – team working at speed as they were timed. Another activity was making Ice cream Sundae’s – designing from a selection, carrying out theories and testing the results, Yum!
African bowls were made from papier mache and our final session for the term was a film night! This was in the main church with the big screen and popcorn!
We have averaged between 12 and 20 ‘Wayfarers’ each session.
As the group has proved popular, we plan to continue in the Autumn term, re-starting our fortnightly meetings on Tuesdays in September! We can’t wait to continue finding ‘the way!’
