There were only a few people present at the Covid-restricted service on All Saints day to witness the admittance of our new assistant curate Elisabeth Ring.
Fortunately we have some pictures to share with you.
This is the point where Revd Erwin read out the formal text, ending with the question:
In the declaration you are about to make, will you affirm your loyalty to this inheritance of faith as your inspiration and guidance under God in bringing the grace and truth of Christ to this generation and making Him known to those in your care?
Elisabeth then made her Declaration of Assent with these words:
I, Elisabeth Ring, do so affirm, and accordingly declare my belief in the faith which is revealed in the Holy Scriptures and set forth in the catholic creeds and to which the historic formularies of the Church of England bear witness; and in public prayer and administration of the sacraments, I will use only the forms of service which are authorized or allowed by Canon.words in italics: © The Archbishops’ Council 2007
The Declaration of Assent is made by deacons, priests and bishops of the Church of England when they are ordained and on each occasion when they take up a new appointment (Canon C 15).
Elisabeth’s first sermon at St Mary’s followed. We wish her much joy of her appointment – and much luck with the house hunting!
Congratulations Elisabeth and welcome to the church and community of Wivenhoe.
Thanks for this, I’m a bit slow off the mark today, as I meant to send this earlier. H[Image]

Hello Sorry to hear that there were few people in attendance this morning. I don’t usually ask to go as I feel that there are long standing members who deserve to go before me, but I will keep a look-out for future services – oh I forgot that lockdown is back – after 2nd December. Take care Kind Regards Terry
The ‘few people’ were because of the Covid restrictions Terry. Only a limited number allowed in.
