Open Gardens 2025

Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May
See locations map below

We hope the weather for Open Gardens weekend will be kind to the 32 gardeners who have opened their gardens this year, including several for the first time, as well as for all of the many visitors we usually expect to come to Wivenhoe and residents who enjoy visiting these gardens.
We are pleased to welcome all visitors of course and especially on this special weekend. We hope you will enjoy looking around Wivenhoe.

There are lots of different-sized gardens to explore, each with their own characteristics. All are loved by their owners who often spend many hours each week making it the feature it looks when you come round.
We are grateful that so many this year are opening on both Saturday and Sunday, and quite a few offering refreshments as well as a few plants to purchase too.

This all goes to make this weekend not just a lovely social occasion but one which hopefully will raise a lot of money too.
Started in 1987 by St Mary’s Church, it now also involves The Wivenhoe Society in helping to organise it. The proceeds of the event will be shared equally between The Wivenhoe Society which will distribute its share among many local causes and worthwhile organisations, whilst the 50% of the amount raised will go to the Church towards the cost of maintaining the fabric of our historic building.

So please do enjoy Wivenhoe and however you get around our village -cum- town.
Below is a map showing all of the gardens and the days they are open. You will need a programme to give you the details of these gardens.
Programmes cost £5 and entitle one person to visit all of the gardens. They are available from mid-April from:
the Wivenhoe Bookshop
the Old Grocery Art Gallery
One Stop Supermarket at Vine Parade.
Then, over Open Gardens weekend, programmes will also be available from many of the gardens as well as from St Mary’s Church. Teas, coffees and scrummy cakes will be available from there as well as from quite a few gardens of course.
