St Mary’s tower captain Adrienne Wood sent us this joyful news just as the online Carol Service was starting today:

“The bells of St Mary’s will be ringing out to celebrate Christmas for the 10.30 Service on Christmas Day.

Due to the current Covid restrictions the bells will only be rung for about 15 minutes, and all necessary Covid compliant precautions will have been observed.

This is a “one-off” dispensation, and the bells will unfortunately remain silent for the foreseeable future.”
