From the minutes of the PCC’s February meeting:
“The Standing Committee had discussed the [Lent charities] at their recent meeting and would recommend to the PCC that the Wivenhoe Food Bank and Namalemba be accepted as our Lent Charities.
The PCC approved the choice of the charities and the open plate collection taken on Sunday 29th March will be used together with any envelopes placed in the Treasurer’s box at the back of church.”

I think the plate is meant to be at the back of the church and not for passing along.
