Conditional planning consent for the Annexe was granted by Colchester Borough Council in July 2017.
These were for the demolition and re-build of the existing South Porch. This will provide level access to the building, and new toilets, including baby changing facilities and for people with disabilities. Then a 45-seat Community Room with a small kitchen available for use by the Church and by external groups.

The Vision for St Mary’s is an exciting one.
Discussions are under way as to how the seating in the Nave can be re-arranged so that this area can be used for more events and activities than presently take place.
The level access into the building will make it much easier for people with mobility issues or with buggies to come into the building.
Additional space and improved facilities provided by the building of the Annexe will enhance the experience of everyone coming to St Mary’s for whatever reason.
The Transformation Project is about enabling St Mary’s to fulfil a greater role in Wivenhoe
