Rector’s webwords for December

Saturday 30 November at 2pm
St Nicholas arrives at Wivenhoe Quay and processes to
St Mary’s where he will give a homily, talk to all the children and distribute sweets. All welcome.

Sunday 1 December
8 am  Holy Communion
10.30 am All Together Church service
4 pm  Christingle Service, with the Wivenhoe schools.
This will also be the start of the Wivenhoe Posada, when the three sets of knitted Mary, Joseph and donkey figures will begin their house-to-house Advent journey. Each of the schools will look after one set to facilitate the peregrination. We are really looking forward to any pictures the hosts can post on St Mary’s website so we can follow the journeys’ progress.

House Communion at the Rectory, 44 Belle Vue Road

Wednesday 4 December at 7.07 pm
Midweek Reflection
15 minutes of quiet, music and prayer, open to all

Thursday 5 December 6-8 pm
St Mary’s Christmas Market and switching on of Christmas lights.
Stalls outside and inside the church. Santa will be present to receive children’s letters and they all get a response – suggested donation £1 per family to help defray postage costs.
Late opening of lower Wivenhoe shops.

Sunday 8 December
10.30 am  Family Eucharist and Sunday Club
2 pm          Nativity Play rehearsal
6 pm          Sung Evensong

15 minutes of quiet, music and prayer, open to all

Saturday 14 December
Today Sandra and Ashley will be married in St Mary’s church.
We wish them a happy day with family and friends and pray God’s blessing on their future life together.

Sunday 15 December
8 am         Holy Communion
10.30 am Morning Prayer with Nativity Play
6 pm         Choral Carol Service with St Mary’s Singers.
Well known Carols for all, with specials by the choir.

15 minutes of quiet, music and prayer, open to all

Sunday 22 December
10.30 am  Family Eucharist and Sunday Club
6 pm          Carols on the Quay, community singing outside The Nottage. Organised by Churches Together Wivenhoe.
With bucket collection for charities.

Christmas Eve 24 December
4.30 pm   Crib Service, with return to the church of the Posada
11.30 pm  Midnight Eucharist

Christmas Day 25 December
8 am   Holy Communion
10 am Christmas Family Eucharist

Men’s Group meeting at River Lodge, West Street
