The IICSA Report

People will (or should have) heard about the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in the Church of England.
At 154 pages, the devastating report may not have been read widely outside the sphere of those with direct safeguarding responsibilities, but it is definitely not the exclusive concern of safeguarders.
Earlier this month a Statement in response was published by the C of E lead bishop on safeguarding and it contains a link to the full report.

A few days ago, Revd Caroline Beckett wrote an article commenting on this issue and, while it makes for a salutary read all round, it is essential reading for anyone who has a connection with the church and cares about it.
We have a collective responsibility to eliminate the opportunities for abuse.
Awareness is necessary.

The article is titled Serpents and Doves: Leadership, Abuse and the Church.
It can be found here on Revd Caroline’s website.
