Our third Concert in 2019, on Friday 18th October, will be FEAST OF MUSIC 2 featuring the WIVENHOE ORCHESTRA and the WIVENHOE RECORDER GROUP.
On Friday 18th October at 7.30pm, this Concert will feature many familiar pieces of music, from Bach to Bartok. These two groups of talented musicians under the leadership of Pam Garland (Orchestra), and Julie-Anne White (Recorder Group) performed in St Mary’s last year under the title of Feast of Music. It was a great evening enjoyed by many people. We look forward to something similar this October.
Tickets are £8 to include a glass of wine or a soft drink. The Concert will start at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm). Tickets should be available at the Church door, or beforehand from the RSVP Gift Shop, corner Station Road, or online at Ticket Source.

We were very lucky to have them performing here in Wivenhoe and they played to a nearly full-house.
Friday 5th July 2019 – Quire (Colchester’s World Music Choir)
Our first concert in 2019 was on Friday 5th July at 7.30pm with the 28 members of the community choir QUIRE. Under the musical directorship of Prof. Bill Tamblyn, they performed a superb evening of music under the title of ‘Back to your Roots.’
Back to your Roots – this title reflects the origins of Quire as a World music choir, set up over 12 years ago to sing music from cultures where, mostly, the singers will perform traditional music from memory and in many cases dance to the music as they sing.
So here in St Mary’s Wivenhoe we will have a programme with Sea Shanties (a living Cornish tradition as we see from the recent success of the movie Fishermen’s Friends) White American soul music, African worker songs from traditions of the RSA and Zimbabwe – where, again music is sung and danced, music from the ‘white’ American gospel tradition and modern pieces which reflect English jazz and soul as created by composer and arranger Bill Tamblyn.
