Church Sitters

In the summer months we try and keep the church open all day on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors are attracted to Wivenhoe for a variety of reasons and looking around our town’s old church is certainly one of them.

This can only work if we have enough volunteers to ‘church sit’ in pairs during the 1 or 2 hour slots and here is something you might not know: you don’t have to be a church goer or member of St Mary’s to volunteer!

Church sitting doesn’t entail guide duties; there’s lots of visitor information available, including descriptions of the lovely stained glass windows.

People who’ve church-sat before often comment that there is something very settling about being in a quiet, peaceful church. If you could give an hour of your time for this, perhaps together with a friend, you can let Lynne Horner know (via the contact page) or you can leave a comment here.
